Questions people ask us
Short answers about how KinnWealth works, what it costs to start, and what happens to the figures you put in. The overview and the privacy page go deeper.
The basics
What is KinnWealth?
A private planning tool for people working out what retirement will actually look like — wherever they live. You enter what you own — savings, property, investments, in any country, and in any of the seven currencies it converts — and it shows your estimated monthly income year by year, how long it is likely to last, and what happens if life throws a surprise. Statutory scheme rules are modelled for Singapore today; everywhere else your plan runs on generic world assumptions, and it says so where that applies.
Can I add money held in another country?
Yes. A holding can be in any country and in any of the supported currencies, and totals are converted into the currency you think in — where a rate is not available the app says so and leaves that holding out rather than guessing. Local scheme rules are modelled market by market, and where a rule is not modelled for your country the app says that plainly too.
Is this financial advice?
No. KinnWealth shows what your own figures imply under rules and assumptions it states on screen. It never tells you what to do with a holding, and it never offers investment products.
These projections are estimates based on information you have entered and are for illustration purposes only. They are not financial advice. Please consult a licensed financial adviser before making any financial decisions.
Do you hold or move my money?
No. There is no way to pay money in or take money out here, and we never place an order on your behalf. KinnWealth sits alongside your banks, your pension or retirement accounts and your adviser — it never stands between you and them.
Is it free to start?
Yes. Signing up is free and asks for no card details. One thing needs a paid plan — the lawyer summary export — and the plans are shown inside the app once you are in.
Getting your figures in
How do I enter what I own?
Three ways, and you can mix them: type each holding in by hand, fill in the Excel template and bring the file back, or hand it a PDF statement and let your own device read it. Every route ends the same way — you see each line before anything is saved.
Does my statement get uploaded to you?
No. A PDF statement is read inside your own browser and the file itself never leaves your device. Only the figures you confirm are kept, and they are locked before they travel.
Can I use a photo or a scan of a paper statement?
Not for automatic reading yet. Photos and scans arrive as pictures rather than text, so KinnWealth tells you it could not read that one and points you at the Excel template or manual entry instead. Reading scans is planned, not built.
What if it reads something wrongly?
You review every line and can correct anything before saving. If a printed total does not agree with the lines beneath it, KinnWealth says so and asks you to decide, rather than quietly choosing one of them.
Making sense of the numbers
What does "your money lasts in 86 out of 100 futures" mean?
KinnWealth plays out up to a thousand versions of your future on your own device — some with kind markets, some with unkind ones — and counts how many your money lasts through. A higher count means fewer of those futures run short. The exact number checked is shown beside your result.
Which surprises does it test for?
Three, side by side: life going roughly as expected, a large one-off medical bill in your seventies, and investments falling early in retirement. You can move between them and watch the picture change.
Can I plan for particular goals?
Yes. Add a goal — a care fund, something to leave behind, anything you name yourself — with an amount and a date. Each one gets its own out-of-100 figure and a monthly set-aside amount that would reach it in time.
Will the projections turn out to be right?
No projection is. These are estimates built from your figures and from published rules, and they move whenever you update a number. They are useful for comparing choices, not for predicting your actual balance.
Estimates, not promises.
What does it do about tax?
Where a market has a tax-advantaged retirement wrapper and we model it, the app estimates how taking money out in different years changes the tax over your lifetime, and shows a year-by-year view of what would be assessable. Where a market has no equivalent, it shows the position for the schemes that market does have.
Before personal reliefs; illustrative estimate.
Your estate summary
What is the lawyer summary?
A tidy PDF you can hand to a lawyer: what you own, who you would like each thing to go to, and your care wishes. It spares the first meeting being spent assembling paperwork.
THIS IS NOT A LEGAL WILL OR LASTING POWER OF ATTORNEY. This document is a structured summary of financial assets and intentions prepared for review by a qualified legal professional.
Why does the PDF have a password?
Because it gathers everything into one file. KinnWealth builds and locks that file on your own device and shows the password once, on screen. Note it down before you move on — we cannot show it again, and we cannot open the file for you.
Is my estate plan finished once I have the summary?
No. The summary records your intentions so a qualified professional can turn them into the real documents. Nothing you write here takes legal effect on its own.
Privacy, passcodes and recovery
Can KinnWealth read my numbers?
No — we cannot read your balances or personal details. They are locked on your device with a key made from your passcode, before they ever reach us, and your passcode never leaves your device.
So what can you see?
A little bookkeeping: which country you are in, the types of holding you have added, whether your plan is free or paid, when your records were last saved, and — where the app records it — which features you use. Never the amounts. The privacy page lists it in full.
What happens if I forget my passcode?
There is no reset email, because a reset would mean we could unlock your information — and it is built so that we cannot. The way back is the recovery phrase you chose when you signed up — it works even without the recovery file, which stays as its backup copy — and you set a new passcode. A passkey is not a second way back: on the device that holds it, your fingerprint or face opens your data without the passcode, but it is tied to that device, and after an account recovery you set it up again.
And if I lose the recovery file as well?
If you forget both your passcode and your recovery phrase, your data cannot be recovered by KinnWealth. Losing the file alone is not the end — your recovery phrase still gets you back in, and it is your own key, not a way in for us. A passkey does not replace it: it opens your data on the device that holds it, and after an account recovery you set it up again. Beyond that there is no back door for us to open, so keep the phrase somewhere you will still find it in ten years.
Where is my information kept?
Your data is processed in Singapore and handled under PDPA (Singapore) and PDPO (Hong Kong). No third-party trackers and no advertising. Where the app records how it is itself used, it is never your figures — and you can turn that off.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from the account settings once you are signed in. Your account closes straight away — you are signed out everywhere and no one can sign in again — and your saved records are erased permanently within 30 days. There is nothing to request by email.
Devices, screens and advisers
Can I sign in on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in with your email and passcode on any phone, tablet or computer — that device turns your passcode into the key locally and unlocks your data there, and the key still never travels. A passkey you set up makes signing in again a touch or a glance.
Do I need to install an app?
No. KinnWealth runs in your phone browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens from its own icon afterwards. There is nothing to fetch from an app store.
Does it work on a computer?
Yes. On a wide screen it lays itself out as a full workspace — side navigation, a sortable table of holdings, the year-by-year plan beside its chart — showing the same figures as the phone.
My eyes are not what they were. Can I still use it?
That is the design floor here, not an afterthought. Text enlarges to 150% inside the app, the layout holds at 200% browser zoom without sliding sideways, colour is never the only signal, and every chart has a table beside it that a screen reader can read out.
I am a financial adviser — what do I get?
Your own firm space with a separate workspace per client, your logo on the summaries you hand over, and the same year-by-year view to walk through in a meeting. Clients cannot yet start their own intake from a link you send — you set each workspace up from your own seat.
Still deciding?
Ten calm minutes with your own figures answers more than any page of ours can.
